South Africa’s 2024 Election Results: ANC Leads Amidst Controversy and New Political Dynamics

South Africa has cast its votes, and the results were officially announced on June 2nd, 2024, despite 26 political parties lodging over 300 official complaints contesting the outcome.

According to the IEC, in this seventh national and provincial elections, the Registered population was 27 782 081, total votes cast were 16 290 156, total valid votes were 16 076 719, and the spoilt votes were 213 437

The results by number of votes per party were as follows:

The ANC leading with 6 459 683 (40.18%), followed by the DA with 3 505 735 (21.81%), then in a surprising twist followed M.K. with 2 344 309 (14.58%) – the Jacob Zuma led party, then the EFF with 1 529 961 (9.52%), then the IFP with 618 207 (3.85%), and in fifth place the PA with 330 425 (2.06%), with the other contesting political parties following thereafter.
